Christmas trivia quiz

Twelve Christmas questions on carols, films, Rudolph, Scrooge, the Grinch and the traditions behind the tree, the mistletoe and Santa.

Christmas trivia quiz illustration

A round for the office party, the family get-together or the last quiz night before the holidays. It opens with songs everyone half knows, then moves to the films that are on every December: Home Alone, the Grinch and A Christmas Carol. The back half covers the traditions, from where the Christmas tree began to the tree Oslo sends to London every year. Every answer is checked against Wikipedia, so the family expert can be corrected with a source. Expect about 10 minutes, more if the room starts singing.

How to run it

  1. Play in teams around the table. Each team shares one phone and joins with a festive team name.
  2. Question 3 is about Rudolph. Ask the room who created him before you reveal it, since almost nobody knows it began as a store booklet.
  3. Run it after dinner at a family party. The questions are easy enough for kids and grandparents to play on the same team.
