20 Christmas emoji puzzles with answers. Guess the film, song or tradition behind each string of emoji, from Home Alone to pulling crackers.

Christmas emoji quiz illustration

A funny Christmas quiz for the office party or the family table: every question pairs a plain question with a short string of emoji, and the room has to name the film, song or tradition behind it. Nobody needs dates or directors, only the stories everyone grew up with, so it works as the opening round before harder trivia. Twenty puzzles take about 15 minutes.

How to run it

  1. Put the host screen where everyone can see it. The emoji show large on the big screen and again on each player's phone.
  2. Question 1 is Home Alone, the easiest puzzle. Let the room shout it out before the timer ends so everyone gets the idea.
  3. Question 20 is a British dinner custom. If most of your group is American, let teams confer on that one, then read the explanation.

Questions about this template

How does a Christmas emoji quiz work?

Each of the 20 questions pairs a plain question with two to four emoji. The emoji stand for a Christmas film, song or tradition, and all four options are real titles or customs, so the string has to point to one of them. Every answer is checked against two sources.

Can we run it live at the party?

Yes. Press Go live, show the PIN or QR code on the big screen and players answer on their phones. The leaderboard updates after each question, with a speed bonus for fast answers. A free session takes up to 100 players.

Will guests have to download anything?

No. They scan the code or open the link, type the PIN and a name, and the quiz runs in their phone browser. No app, no account, nothing to install.

Can I change the puzzles or add my own?

Yes. Use this template to make your own copy, then rewrite any puzzle, drop the ones your group will not know, add questions about your own team or family, and set the timer and points before you start.
