Sports trivia questions and answers

20 questions across football, tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, cycling and more, from easy warm-ups to a snooker number only the regulars will know.

Sports trivia quiz illustration

Built for pub quiz regulars and the people who only watch the big finals. The questions jump from one sport to the next, so a cricket question follows a Tour de France one and no single fan dominates for long. Twenty questions run about 15 minutes, and question 20 doubles as a tie-breaker.

How to run it

  1. Mix the sports fans across teams. A table of football people will lose points on the swimming and snooker questions.
  2. Read out the as-of date on the record questions. Records change, and the answers are correct as of 2026.
  3. If two teams finish level, ask question 20 out loud and take the closest year as the winner.
