What three minutes are good for
The ring turns coral for the last 18 seconds. Screen readers hear “2 minutes left” and “1 minute left” as the time passes, never every second.
- Think-pair-share. One minute to think alone, one to talk with a partner, one to share with the room. Switch when the digits show 2:00 and 1:00.
- Quick review. Start a lesson with three questions from last week. Three minutes is enough to answer them without eating into new work.
- Exit ticket. Before people leave, they write two or three lines on what was clear and what wasn’t.
- Feedback rounds. In a peer review, each reviewer gets three minutes. The timer stops one person taking the whole slot.
